CCW Writing Critique Sessions are volunteer-run Zoom meetings held twice a month, open to our members, wherever they are. Authors share works in progress, offer thoughtful feedback, and help each other grow. Whether you’re polishing a draft or looking for fresh perspective, our sessions offer a supportive place to learn, improve, and keep writing.
Annual | Held every April
Our Annual Youth Writing Contest celebrates young writers every April. Open to Junior and Senior categories, this is a wonderful opportunity to encourage the next generation of storytellers. Adult CCW members are encouraged to get involved by spreading the word and volunteering as panel judges! Contact us if you're interested in volunteering.
Writer RetreatsÂ

Sometimes the best thing a writer can do is step away from daily distractions and spend time with other people who love words. Our annual writers’ retreats are designed to help you generate new ideas, work through tough spots in your current project, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow writers. Writer's Table MeetupsÂ
Monthly | alternates Between in-person & online
Take a break from your solitary writing routine and connect with fellow writers. Writers Table meetups bring CCW members together to discuss the joys and struggles of writing followed by dedicated time to work on individual projects in the company of others. Writers Tables alternate between in person and online. Times and locations are published in the newsletter. Links for online events are available in the members-only calendar.
Workshops
OCCASIONAL | Held every Month
CCW partners with Spec Fic Writers to provide free online workshops to members every month. These workshops cover writing craft, the business of being an author, jumpstarting creativity, as well as genre-specific subjects. Additionaly, CCW engages experts at least twice a year to provide more in-depth instruction for members. Workshops are announced in the newsletter and links to free workshops are in the members-only calendar.
Author Opportunities
OCCASIONAL | Held Throughout the year
Author members of Central Colorado Writers have opportunities to meet potential readers and sell their books at events like Salida's Art Walk. During Art Walk CCW sets up an Author Gallery booth where visitors to Art Walk meet CCW authors, buy their books, and learn more about our organization. All author opportunities are announced in our monthly newsletter.
